5 Steps to treat Anxiety...

What is anxiety and how it affects us?

Anxiety is a feeling of unease like fear or worry about uncertain outcomes. It affects our work, health and relationships. As a result, a person may have negative or disturbing thoughts. Besides this, a person may feel a sense of void within self and become less socially active.

Anxiety can cause an increase in heart rate, chest pain and includes risk of high blood pressure. On emotional grounds, anxiety can cause communication problems. An anxious person may feel that nobody can understand his situation and therefore, it becomes a state of chaos and anxiety. There is a change in common behavioural patterns. In professional life, anxiety can cause problems. Due to the low efficiency of work in an organization, it may lead to wastage of precious resources and involves loss in finances.

Why we are anxious in life?

The main reason for our anxiety is our thoughts. We have different thoughts at different prevailing situations such as good or bad, positive or negative. Some of the basic causes of anxiety are:

  • Fear: People always feel fearful about upcoming events of the future. What is going to happen? What are the consequences? These are some questions which arise in the mind and create stress and anxiety. In the 21st century, people are more concerned about the future than to live in the present peacefully. People also get to indulge themselves in such situations which are beyond their control.

  • Emotional suffering: People may feel sad in their lives when they lose their near ones by death, divorce or separation. They may get depressed and anxious if they are unable to cope up with this feeling.

  • Competition and success factors: It is said that when you compete yourself with someone then you are insulting yourself and your talent. Competitions are one of the major reasons behind anxiety and stress. Usually, people try to compete with others to get success as soon as possible, they are more interested in getting immediate results. On the other hand, everyone wants to live a luxurious life and like to maintain a status in society. This is the problem causing factor.

How to manage anxiety and live completely?

There are some strategies to manage anxiety:

  1. Embrace your negative thoughts: Accept your flow of thoughts which can help you to live in a peaceful atmosphere. Embrace negativity as a tool which acts as a building block for success. Let's discuss this with an example. Suppose that you are the manager of a sales company. Suddenly it comes to your attention that the production is less and consumption is high. You have to manage everything which results in workload and enough to make you anxious. In this case, a person may get more influence of negativity but you have to accept it as it is inevitable.

  2. Befriend your anxiety: It is advisable to befriend your anxiety and focus on how you think in adverse situations because your thinking can affect you as a whole. The way you think can affect your way of action. By making your anxiety your dear friend, you create a harmonious relationship with the stressors. The more you avoid, the more problematic it will become to handle. 

  3. Conversation with anxiety: You can use anxiety in your favour by questioning it. According to the previous example, you can question yourself how much workload is necessary? How can you get a solution to the problem? Communication with anxiety can help you to find effective results in a short span of time.

  4. Solution-oriented mindset: Be more concerned about the things which you need and you can get it more. It is a universal truth that the more you attract things, the more positive results you get. On the other hand, if you focus on fears or failures, you can feel those more and get stuck with the feeling of anxiety. So, it is suggested to focus on the solution rather than the problem. Don't get anxious, understand the situation and do well. Solution-oriented mindset can give you positive answers in difficult circumstances.

  5. Action plan: Always make an action plan before the execution of an idea. If any problem occurs, use anxiety as beneficial equipment and try to perform according to your latest plan to get effective results. Check whether it gives you a positive result or not. If yes, then you are travelling on the right track.

By making yourself free from anxiety, you can get a quality of life with an effective zone of communication, relationships and social interactions.
